Extended Diploma

EXTENDED STUDIES DIPLOMA (10th-12th Grades Only) ***Please note the Extended Studies Diploma is being retired at the end of the 2027-2028 school year.  Therefore, the Extended Studies Diploma only applies to the Class of 2026, 2027, 2028.  The Extended Studies will not apply to the Class of 2029 and beyond.

To be eligible to receive a School District 5 Extended Studies Diploma, a student must earn 28 units of credit (see required credits below) and perform ten hours of community service each year. Students are responsible for annually verifying community service. Please use the following link to record your service hours: https://forms.gle/E7hnYcU77kPiQYdVA .    This Service Hours google form can be used to record hours for Extended Studies, Beta Club and National Honor Society.   We are no longer requiring individual forms.  Please enter each service experience one time on the form.  Hours for Extended Studies should be submitted annually by May 1st during the 9th, 10th, 11th grade years, and by February 1st during the senior (12th) year.

The requirements are as follows:

  • 4 units - English
  • 4 units - Math (including Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2) 
  • 4 units - Lab Sciences 
  • 2 units - Elevective Social Studies 
  • 1 unit - U.S. History and Constitution 
  • 0.5 unit - Economics 
  • 0.5 unit - U.S. Government 
  • 3 units - Foreign Language (same language) 
  • 1 unit - Physical Education  
  • 1 unit - Computer Technology 
  • 1 unit - CATE or Visual or Performing Art 
  • 6 units - Electives  
  • 28 Total Units
